Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme – what is it, and who is eligible?

June 30, 2017

Martina Lavery Dental & Skin Studio is proud to participate in Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme (CDBS ). CDBS is a scheme devised by Australian government, providing better access to dental services for children – in private or public setting.

LEGIBILITY

Department of Human Services assesses for CDBS legibility. As a general guide – children between ages of 2 and 17 years are eligible for benefits if they have Medicare and receive a relevant Australian governement payment (for example Family Tax Benefit Part A).

Children are entitled for up to $1000 worth of dental services which include examinations, cleaning, x rays, fillings, root canals, fissure sealing, extractions and partial dentures. The $1000 limit applies for two consecutive years. The scheme doesn’t cover orthodontic dental work, cosmetic dental work or any services provided in a hospital.

If your child is eligible, you will receive notification from Department of Human Services – electronically or in post. This notification can be used as proof of legibility at the time of child’s dental appointment at our practice. The dental services will be bulk billed – meaning that we will claim payment for dental services directly from Medicare.

To book your child’s appointment, call us on 02 9688 7898.
