ARE YOU READY TO LIVE, LOOK, FEEL YOUNGER?
DO YOU WANT SMOOTH, WRINKLE-FREE SKIN?
The wait is over, Dr Lavery uses medication to relax the muscle activity which creates lines/wrinkles on the face.
Many people do not understand the medication used in anti-wrinkle injections, so let me explain.
Botulinum toxin is a purified protein derived from the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. It is a neurotoxin, in fact, a very small amount could wipe out the earth’s population.
However, in the medical application of this material there are no bacteria. We use the purified pharmaceutical grade protein as the medication for wrinkles. This can be likened to how an antibiotic is manufactured pharmaceutically.
There are a few strains but BTx-A (Botulinum Toxin Serotype A) is commonly used in cosmetic applications.
It’s a really quick, non-invasive procedure which can be done in your lunch (or coffee) break with minimal down time. Results can be seen within 10days and last anywhere up to 4-6months.
The most common wrinkles to relax are the areas of the forehead, crow’s feet (the crease between the eyebrows) and the bunny lines (either side of the nose).
HOW MUCH DOES ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTABLES COST?
At the Studio, Dr Lavery charges per area requiring smoothing not per unit of medication.
After a full comprehensive consultation about your rejuvenation, Dr Lavery will provide a full costing prior to your treatment.
ARE THE ANY OTHER USES OF BTX-A?
The most beneficial non-cosmetic treatment we can offer as dentists is the treatment for temporomandibular disorder or TMD.
Muscle relaxing injections into the masseter and temporalis/frontalis muscles (facial muscles) alleviate the forces of night time grinding and clenching (bruxism) which causes damage and wear to the teeth. It can cause joint pain and facial pain too.
Another wonderful use of BTx-A is to treat “gummy smiles”. It can be injected into the LLSAN (levator labii superioris alaequi nasi) – what a mouthful!!
A simple injection either side of the nose can relax this muscle which has the effect of relaxing the lip so you can smile without showing too much lip.
Lastly, a very small dose can be injected into the muscle along the border of the jawline just under the corners of the lips to relax the ‘pull’ down effect of this muscle, allowing the outer corners of the lips to relax and turn upwards rather than downwards.
