Anti-Wrinkle Injections in Winston Hills, NSW
Do You Want Smooth, Wrinkle-Free Skin?
The wait is over.
Winston Hills dentist Dr Martina Lavery uses medication to relax the muscle activity that creates lines and wrinkles on the face.
Feeling unsure about the medication used to treat facial wrinkles?
Botulinum toxin is a purified protein derived from the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. It is a neurotoxin; in fact, a tiny amount could wipe out the Earth’s population.
In the medical application of this material, however, there are no bacteria. We use the purified pharmaceutical-grade protein as the medication for wrinkles. This can be likened to how an antibiotic is manufactured pharmaceutically.
There are a few strains, but BTx-A (Botulinum Toxin Serotype A) is commonly used in cosmetic applications.
It’s a really quick, non-invasive procedure, which can be done during your lunch or coffee break with minimal downtime. Results can be seen within ten days and last anywhere up to 4 to 6 months.
The most common wrinkles to relax are in the areas of the forehead, crow’s feet, the crease between the eyebrows and the bunny lines on either side of the nose.
How Much Do Anti-Wrinkle Injectables Cost?
At the Studio, Dr Lavery charges per area requiring smoothing, not per unit of medication.
After a comprehensive consultation about your rejuvenation, Dr Lavery will provide a full costing prior to your treatment.
Are There Any Other Uses for BTx-A?
The most beneficial non-cosmetic treatment we can offer as dentists is treatment for a temporomandibular disorder or TMD. TMD can result in painful jaw joints, tension headaches, facial soreness and over-development of the jaw muscles, which begin to look enlarged and boxy.
Muscle relaxing injections into the masseter and temporalis and frontalis muscles (facial muscles) alleviate the forces of nighttime grinding and clenching (bruxism), which cause damage and wear to the teeth. Bruxism can cause also cause joint pain.
Another wonderful use of BTx-A is to treat ‘gummy smiles’. It can be injected into the LLSAN (levator labii superioris alaequi nasi – what a mouthful!). This reduced motion of the upper lip creates a more natural smile line. A simple injection on either side of the nose can relax this muscle, which has the effect of relaxing the lip so you can smile without showing excessive gum tissue.
Lastly, a very small dose can be injected into the muscle along the border of the jawline just under the corners of the lips to relax the pull-down effect of this muscle, allowing the outer corners of the lips to relax and turn upwards rather than downwards.
