Teeth Whitening in Northmead, NSW
Teeth whitening is a safe way to brighten your smile and increase your confidence.
It is a quick, easy and inexpensive solution to improve the appearance of your teeth without restorations or complex treatment, making it one of the most popular choices for patients seeking cosmetic dentistry.
Teeth Stain Naturally with Age
If you smoke or drink tea or coffee, you might expect stained teeth as a result. Everyday food choices, however, also cause colour deposits on the teeth and leave them darker with each passing year.
While stains are a regular part of the ageing process, you do not have to live with a yellow or dark smile.
What Is Teeth Whitening?
All teeth whitening products contain peroxide, either as hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Both types of peroxide penetrate the microscopic pores in tooth enamel to bleach away stains that have collected over the years.
Successful completing of teeth whitening can take years off the appearance of your smile and give you renewed confidence in your appearance. A bright smile may enhance professional and personal interactions.
We use Ultradents Opal essence for both our in chair and take home products.
The Teeth Whitening Procedure
Whitening is carried out in the dental chair in around an hour, depending on how many applications are needed to bring the correct shade to your teeth.
Our first step to whitening your teeth is, Dr Martina will place a lip guard in your mouth to keep your mouth open and tongue away from the whitening gel that is to be placed. Next, she will apply a protective barrier to the gums to reduce irritation and sensitivity, and set that with a curing light. Then she will place the professional-strength whitening gel on the surfaces of the teeth and allow it to penetrate. This process can be repeated within the same visit up to three times to achieve the desired results.
In-chair whitening is often followed by a custom-made, take-home whitening kit professionally constructed to fit your teeth, and avoid your gums!.This allows the process to continue at home for the brightest results.
If you are seeking restorative dentistry, such as crowns, bridges, veneers or fillings, you may achieve more desirable results by beginning with teeth whitening.
Restorations do not whiten or stain in the same way as your natural teeth. Since the aim of treatment will be seamless results that blend with your natural tooth colour, starting with professionally whitened teeth can be beneficial.
How Much Does Teeth Whitening Cost?
Teeth whitening treatment varies among patients due to the severity of the discolouration of the teeth. We always recommend a consultation before treatment with Dr Martina, so she can provide you with a detailed treatment plan to gain your best smile.
