Beauty Is In The Phi Of The Beholder
The Greeks said that all BEAUTY IS MATHEMATICS…. No Please keep reading! It will all make sense, I promise!
I’m sure you-beauty-glow-seeking individuals didn’t expect to find mathematical equations in a segment talking about BEAUTY. – my mathematical genius dad is delighted that his daughter (me!) is finally applying the mathematical principles he tried to teach me a very long time ago – (I should have paid more attention!!)
Phi – the golden number 1.618
The ratio, or proportion, determined by Phi (1.618) also known to the Renaissance artists as the ‘Divine Proportion’. This was derived through a numerical series discovered by Leonardo Fibonacci – the Fibonacci series.
This ratio seems to appear recurrently in things perceived as ‘beautiful’. It is found in the proportions of the human body, plants, art, shells, spider webs, architecture, DNA, music, the stock market and The Bible.
Physical beauty is based on how closely the features of one’s face reflect Phi in their proportions. The golden ratio appears extensively in the human face, shown in a 2009 university study on attractiveness and of Florence Colgate, Britain’s most perfect face of 2012.
The Science of Phi
Dr. Stephen Marquardt, a maxillofacial surgeon has studied physical human beauty throughout his career. He has conducted many studies globally, throughout time and has found that faces deemed the most physically beautiful align with Phi proportions.
He has been able to create and patent a beauty mask which embodies Phi in all its dimensions.
If you are interested, you can download a copy of the Marquardt Beauty Mask to apply to a photo of your face from the ‘You and the mask’ page of his site (with permission).
The application of the golden ratio to beauty refers only to physical beauty. The saying “beauty is only skin deep reflects this”.
Attributes such as kindness and happiness radiates from a person makes them more beautiful than anger and hostility.
So, what does all this mean for you!?
Well as a dentofacial enhancement practitioner and self-professed science nerd, it means I have an accurate formula to explore, analyse, understand your facial proportions and to accentuate your features.
I have applied this ratio for cosmetic dental procedures for as long as I can remember.
Using Phi caliphers, I will systematically and logically work through your phi proportions and physically draw on where the best place to apply cheek and lip filler to optimise your physical beauty.
Predictable placement of HYALOURIC ACID DERMAL AND LIP FILLERS requires the practitioner to have a sound understanding of anatomy and the Phi proportions.
So if you are considering lip or cheek enhancement be reassured it is not guess work. There is a very specific formula used to make sure the filler material is applied to optimise your facial features.
So, what are you waiting for? – enquire about your lip and cheek enhancement at your next visit to the Studio.
I look forward to enhancing your natural beauty!
Phi is everywhere – watch out you may become as obsessed as we are!
